If there’s one thing that defines the bar scene in Oslo, it’s the “activity bar” – the bar that offers you the chance to do something other than just drink. Pinball machines, ping pong tables and shuffleboards can be found in bars all over the Norwegian capital. Grünerløkka is the best bar neighbourhood, while craft beer is the drink of choice. When it comes to native products, aquavit (or akevitt as the Norwegians call it), the spirit that’s not quite vodka and not quite gin, is well worth a taste.
